8th International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN 2020)

www.iconn2020.com

ICONN is the largest biennial Australian conference series in the field of nanoscience. Since the inaugural conference was held in Brisbane in 2006, ICONN has seen success in cities all around Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Wollongong.

In February 2020 ICONN returned to Brisbane in conjunction with the International Conference on BioNano Innovation (ICBNI 2020) and featured a diverse array of multidisciplinary talks, which connected world leading scientists, students, engineers, industry participants and entrepreneurs working in the field of nanoscale science and technology

Key outcomes

  • Having a professional conference organiser to manage ICONN2020 meant the conference committee only had a small number of decisions to make and did not have to find the internal resources to handle an unexpected situation like the COVID-19 health crisis.
  • By utilising our planning services and existing supplier relationship Expert Events were able to secure a positive outcome for the committee and the conference to effectively minimise the impact of the health crisis on the event.
  • ICONN 2020 was a success with 72% of those registered prior to the outbreak attending and a budget that was cost neutral (despite this drop in numbers) and a small surplus in funds that can be used towards the funding for the next conference.
